My name is Arsenii Maliev, I'm a 24 years old Ukrainian national. I first moved to Canada back in 2016 as a student enrolled at Fanshawe College. After completing two diploma programs there, which took me around 3.5 years (7 semesters), I moved to Toronto, where I've lived and worked for the past four years. As a result of the Russian military aggression in Ukraine, I've got a CUAET visa/working permit that expires in June 2025.
From 2019 to 2020, I worked on several projects that were related to my field of study (Film Studies & Advanced Filmmaking NOC 5131).
I signed a contract with a local media company, Good Fish Productions, where I would work full-time over the following year (October 2020 - October 2021).
Due to the negative impact that the pandemic had on the Ontario job market, I'd struggled to find a full-time position in my field of study, which pushed me to rethink my choice of career, and ultimately make the switch from filmmaking to working in the food and beverage hospitality industry sector. Over the past 2.5 years, I've mastered the specialties NOC 65200, 65201, and 64301*. At this point, I am planning on moving to Newfoundland as soon as I find a workplace willing to hire me, so I could continue working in the service/film industry and obtain my PR status through the provincial nominee program.
